If you intend to stay in Japan for a medium or long-term stay, you will need to apply for a visa or land application. The Certificate of Eligibility (COE) required for these applications can be received by Email from March 17, 2023.

The e-mail you received can be presented in person for the visa application, so there is no need to print it out yourself(*1). Receiving COE via e-mail also saving time and postage costs of snail mail as well. If you would prefer to receive COE by e-mail, ask your agent in Japan.

*1 Foreign nationals who have a paper Certificate of Eligibility may submit a copy thereof.
In case a representative of the applicant applies for a visa at a Japanese embassy, consulate, or consular office, the representative must submit the original or a copy of the applicant’s paper Certificate of Eligibility or a printed copy of the email.
