Zero tuition fee for public high school if conditions are met.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has been implementing a new system of support for higher education since April 2020 to ensure that students, regardless of their family’s financial situation, have a chance to enter universities, junior colleges, technical colleges, and vocational schools.
For those who meet the conditions, tuition fees for public high schools are reduced to zero yen. For private high schools, tuition fees ranging from 118,800 yen to 396,000 yen per year will be subsidized.
This program is available to those who meet the following both two conditions:

Those who meet any of the following conditions will not be eligible for this program:
– Parental income exceeds 9.1 million yen per year
– Has already graduated from high school
